I hope that the new year is going well for all. Susan and I had a very nice and much needed holiday break between Christmas and New Year's and I was able to get some time in on the project. It's been cold but even with cloudy days and temps in the teens it is very comfortable working in the boat with a portable radiant propane heater. I make sure to have enough ventilation so that fumes don't build up.

Now that I've got the main salon deck and the rough stairs going down to the galley and head rebuilt, I needed to make a set of stairs down to the forward storage area. I decided to build a conventional set of winder type stairs so we could walk up and down comfortably.

Here's a shot looking straight down from the salon deck.



And here's a picture from the lower level. The plan is to build drawers into the space below the treads on each of the stairs. I hate to waste any opportunity for storage.
We are also thinking the space to the left of the stairs in this picture would be a good place for coats, jackets and foul weather gear as it is handy to the main entrance.



So now we can get around in the boat without ladders and that certainly makes things easier and safer.
