New Interior layout in 3D
I've reworked the interior layout of the MBN a little using Google SketchUp. I've never worked with a 3D program like this before and I make a lot of mistakes trying to connect the various surfaces but it is pretty powerful and for the most part easy to use. And did I mention it is Free! So here is view of the interior looking in from the port side showing the whole interior. I still have some components to put in the main salon.

There are some differences between this layout of the galley and the one I did earlier using the Ikea Kitchen Planning Tool.
I've added a combination appliance cabinet and small bar top on the floor of the main salon that will be home to the Microwave, Toaster Oven & Coffee Maker.
Here's the old Ikea plan.

Below is a view from the main salon that shows the other side of the cabinet.

Here's a closeup of the galley area from the stateroom.

Another reason I'm doing all this 3D computer crap instead of actually working on the boat is because I'm in Maine Medical Center and I've been in here for 4 days while they start me on a new medicine for my AFIB heart problem. The medicine is called Tikosyn
and you have to be in hospital when they start this medicine because it has a "risk of induced arrhythmia" which in plain English means it can put your heart into an abnormal rhythm that if not treated immediately can cause a bad side effect like death.
So here we are on a houseboat restoration blog with a little bit of Cardiac education thrown in. Sorry for the diversion but I feel like talking about it since it seems to be consuming so much of my time for the past year.
I'm still a mariner at heart as you can see from this photo I took with the web cam on my laptop here in the hospital room.

Enjoy every day or I'll blow off your frigging heads with my pirate cannons.
Yours truly,
Wado

Just found your site and LOVE it! I hope you're feeling better...you tell those hospital folks to get you kickin' higher than ever because some other hospital guy in Tennessee (ME) needs to see you and your boat in the water! Loving what you've done so far. One question...have you talked to Gibson for any of your needs/questions? They are based here in TN and offer support/parts for all their current and former boat designs. Just curious.
Best,
Ronn

Ronn,
Thank you so much for the positive feedback. I am really enjoying the documenting of the project. As I look back over the progress I can't believe it myself.
I haven't contacted Gibson. This boat was built by Carl Gibson. I guess he split off from the Gibson company and started his own company called C-Yacht. I wish somebody could fill me in better on the history.
I've got a lot of neat stuff coming as I get into rewiring and plumbing so stay tuned as the project continues.
Hang to the Riggins,
Wado

Charlie,
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I am also looking forward to getting her in the water. I am also enjoying the process of restoring this old girl and it's fun for me to document it because when I look back over some of the posts it is so much easier to remember what I started with and where I am today.
Keep in touch.

Fantastic ----- Love your layout, and the quality of your work. We will attempt to drive our Natualine home again as 3 mths ago we started out north of Sarasota,Fla in the Manatee River and got to Pine Island Fla about 150mile from the start. We had 3 tows and the last was for a blown engine. It has take till now to redo the drives and the hull work done. Will start trip fri 12:30 the last 120 miles to Lake Okeechobee, fla. when we get it to its new covered dock we will start the Gutting, thanks to you we can see what is ahead of us. We love the way you kept the progress going. waiting to hear from you in the future.
My wife Joyce and I Thank you for all your documentation and hard work. do you have a 3D file that you would share to cut time on our new layout very similar to your salon, with the Galley on the helm deck, where existing galley is would be Pullman type births for sleeping.
thanks again
